Honeymoon at the Angkor 5 Days
Siem Reap is undoubtedly Cambodia’s fastest growing city and serves as a small charming gateway town to the world famous heritage of the Angkor temple complex. Thanks to those attractions, Siem Reap has transformed itself into a major tourist hub. Siem Reap nowadays is a vibrant town with modern hotels and architectures. Despite international influences, Siem Reap and its people have conserved much of the town’s image, culture and traditions. This 5-day honeymoon tour will introduce you the best temples in the complex, as well as chance to get closer to the local people and time to unwind.
Day 1: Siem Reap (D, G)
Arriving at Siem Reap airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. The rest of the day will be free to recover! In the evening, you will have dinner with Apsara Dance Show at Angkor Theatre. You will spend the night in a hotel in Siem Reap.
Day 2: Siem Reap (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you’ll begin with a visit to Angkor Thom, starting with the Bayon. Your next visit will be to the Elephant and Leper Emperor Terraces, followed by the Baphoun Temple, which is now nearing the end of an eight-year multi-million dollar restoration programme. You’ll then visit Ta Prohm, strangled by massive tree roots and typical of the condition of the whole complex when it was discovered in 1860 by French naturalist Henri Mouhot, and Neak Pean, a Himalayan-style lake and sanctuary. In the afternoon, you’ll explore Angkor Wat itself, the largest, and for most people, the most impressive temple in the complex. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.
Day 3: Siem Reap (B, L, G)
In the morning, an hour drive will take you to Banteay Srey Temple which displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art with some of the most beautiful, deep and intricate carvings. You’ll return to your hotel with en-route visit to a local family that makes sugar palm.
After lunch in the city centre, you’ll be driven to Siem Reap River and Wat Athovea. There, you’ll embark for a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, a natural reservoir that partly controls the level of floods in the Mekong Delta, and visit a floating fishing village en-route. You’ll return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 4: Siem Reap/Beng Mealea/Siem Reap (B, L, G)
After breakfast, your guide and driver will drive you 50km through the countryside, the rice fields alongside the Kulen Mountain range to Beng Mealea Temple complex. Beng Mealea is almost the size of Angkor Wat and is one of the largest ensembles build during Khmer reign and still seldom visited. You’ll have a picnic lunch and drive back to Siem Reap in the afternoon.
The rest of the day will be in a spa centre for a relaxing holistic body treatment. You will spend the night in Siem Reap.
Day 5: Siem Reap departure (B, GP)
Free time until transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Tour ends.
