Dalat

Early the 20th century, the French, who recognized the value of Dalat as a health resort, built a series of villas and service center for high-ranking French officials.
Thus the town gradually became a tourist center.
Its romantic lake, water falls and pine forests are the pride of Dalat. In the heart of the town lies Xuan Huong lake, 5km in perimeter and surrounded by villas, pine forests and low hills. Dalat is also described of a forest of flowers. Flowers can be found everywhere and in any season in Dalat: in front of houses, in parks, and in gardens.
Dalat has the widest range of orchid varieties in the country. Owing to its mild climate, Dalat also grows coffee, tea, cinchona, pear, and some cold-climate vegetables and fruits like strawberry, kiwi, cauliflowers and artichoke.
