State of Arts 7 Days

Laos’ isolation from foreign influence offers travellers an unparalleled glimpse of traditional Southeast Asian life. From the fertile lowlands of the Mekong River valley to the rugged Annamite highlands, Laos is the highlight of Southeast Asia. The architectural contrasts between the North and the South, allows visitors to learn about the history and foreign influences on the country. Luang Prabang is an excellent place to find locally produced handicrafts and hand-woven textiles. This 7-day honeymoon vacation covers two highlights in Laos: the sleepy capital Vientiane and will give an overview of Laos arts and architecture.

Day 1: Vientiane arrival (D, GP)

Pick up on arrival at Vientiane International Airport and transfer to your hotel. After a short rest, you will have a guide to visit the Morning Market and stroll around the city distance, and observing the sunset by the Mekong Riverside and seeing the city lifestyle of local Lao people. You will spend the night in the Vientiane.

In the evening, the guide will arrive at your hotel and take you to a local artist’s house for dinner. You will have a pleasant talk with the owner before experience some of the traditional cuisine of Laos. You’ll spend the night in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane City Tour (B, L, G)

After breakfast, you will visit the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will stop enroute to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.

After lunch, you will visit Wat Ong Tue and Wat Haisok. You will then stop at the Central Market of Talad Sao and Talad Kouadin where various goods are displayed for sale; including fresh food, household goods, souvenirs, textiles, gold, silver and antiques. You will spend the night in Vientiane.

Day 3: Vientiane/Luang Prabang (B, G)

Free time until transferred to the airport for noon flight to Luang Prabang. Arriving in Luang Prabang International Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. In the evening, you’ll stroll around the city’s Night Market offering handmade textiles woven by local people and ethnic minority communities. You will spend the night in Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Luang Prabang city (B, L, G)

After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided-tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. You will then visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun. In the late afternoon, you will climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River. The rest of the day will be free to wander around the ancient street or just relax with a Laos’s beer along the Nam Khan River. You will spend the nigh in Luang Prabang.

Day 5: Luang Prabang/Laos Spirit resort (B, DP)

After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will show you the National Museum (close Tuesday) at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early Kings right through the last sovereign. You will also go around the Central Market which is famous for silver jewelry. After visiting these sites, you will be back to your hotel to check out and drive to the Laos Spirit resort which is 15 km away from the city centre in the middle of unspoiled, natural green surroundings. The rest of the day will be free to wander around the resort. You will spend the night at Laos Spirit resort.

Day 6: Luang Prabang/Lao Spirit Adventure (Elephant + rafting) (B, L, D, G)

This is a full day trip combining a rafting tour with some sightseeing and an exciting elephant ride to/from Tad Sae Waterfall (or alternative route in dry season). Start from the Adventure and Elephant camp, you will cross a small river, you will be introduced to our Asian Elephants and venture on a 1hr – 1hr 30 minutes enchanting journey through forests, plantations and fields. This activity programme provides you with a breathtaking and unique experience as you make your way through forests and along the Nam Khan River up to the waterfalls of Tad Sae. After visiting the waterfall, lunch is served before a relaxing 30-minute rafting tour along the river back to the resort. The evening is free at your leisure. Your overnight will be at Lao Spirit Resort.

Day 7: Luang Prabang departure (B, G)

Your time will be free until your car arrives to take you to the airport for your departure flight. Tour ends.
