Unveil Mystery 6 Days
This 6-day tour covering the peaceful Luang Prabang with some of its magnificent wats, Xieng Khoang province with its awesome beauty of high green mountains and rugged karst formations and its must-see sites – the mysterious Plain of Jars, Vientiane – the lay-back present capital of Laos.
Day 1: Luang Prabang arrival (D, G)
Arriving in Luang Prabang International Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. In the evening, you’ll stroll around the city’s Night Market offering handmade textiles woven by local people and ethnic minority communities. You will spend the night in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang city (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided-tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. You will then visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun. In the late afternoon, you will climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River. The rest of the day will be free to wander around the ancient street or just relax with a Laos’s beer along the Nam Khan River. You will spend the nigh in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang/Xieng Khoang (B, G)
This is the morning when you need your alarm clock! Early in the morning after a sustaining beverage and a small snack, you’ll witness one of Laos’ unique ceremonies – the daily ‘alms giving’ ritual of saffron-clad monks walking in a long line holding black bowls to receive offerings from local people. The traditional gift is a handful of ‘sticky rice’, but nowadays money is equally acceptable. You’ll then return to your hotel for a proper breakfast.
After breakfast, you will visit the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts and the Central Market. After that, you will take a short flight to Xieng Khoang where you will be greeted on arrival. You will spend the night in Xieng Khoang.
Day 4: Xieng Khoang/Vientiane (B, G)
Today, you will visit the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site encompassing hundreds of large stone jars scattered throughout the plateau. You will then visit the old capital of Muang Khoun Province and its’ nearby villages which are home to the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam people who possess an interesting local culture and a vibrant history.
In the afternoon, you will take a short flight to Vientiane. You will have a guide to visit the Morning Market and stroll around the city distance, and observing the sunset by the Mekong Riverside and seeing the city lifestyle of local Lao people. You will spend the night in the Vientiane.
Day 5: Vientiane City Tour (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you will visit the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will stop enroute to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred out to see the Buddha Park, a scattered enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong Riverside meadow, close to the Friendship Bridge. Your overnight accommodation will be in Vientiane.
Day 6: Vientiane departure (B, GP)
Free time at leisure before transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Tour ends.
