Vietnam Visa and Passport

You must carry a valid passport and have obtained the appropriate visas when travelling with Vietnam Tour Guides. Please ensure your passport is valid for 6 months beyond the duration of the trip. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of the correct visas for your holiday. Vietnam Tour Guides cannot accept responsibility if you are refused entry to a country because you lack the correct visa documentation. Most foreign visitors have to obtain visa before entering the countries. The entry visa is good for travelling throughout the country, except to such restricted areas as bordering provinces, military bases, islands, etc... where a special travel permit is needed. Procedures are quick because Vietnamese Government is trying to speed up the Vietnam Tourism as well as improving Vietnam image. 

Visa can be applied at the Vietnam Embassy, consulate in your country, or in a country where there is exist Vietnamese embassy and consulate,  with an application form, original Passport and 3 photos, and the process takes from 1 to 10days. Visa Exemption

Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand , Philippines , Malaysia , Singapore , Indonesia and Laos .

- Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan and South Korea , Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Finland .

(Vietnamese diplomatic and official passport holders are exempted from visa requirements to enter Japan ).

- French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates. Vietnamese citizens holding valid diplomatic passports also enjoy similar privileges.

- Citizens of Chile and Vietnam holding valid diplomatic or official passports from one of the two countries are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in the other's territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.

1. Application of Visa at Vietnam Embassy

Fill in an application form and submit it with your original Passport, 2-3 photos with visa fees to the Embassy or Consulate, who in turn, has to send the information to get the approval from Hanoi. After 4-10 days depending upon the country, you will get the visa stamp onto your Passport or may be as fast as 1 day.

2. Getting Vietnam visa at the Airport.

The most important document that you need to have before travel is the special pre-approval letter to authorize visa upon arrival at the airport in Vietnam. We are able to provide this pre-approval letter if the tour was booked with us (min. 3 days). Extension of your own stay is possible.

NOTE:

For our clients, we will provide this special pre-approval letter, Free of Charge! However, you will have to pay USD 25 per person to the immigration for visa stamp fee upon arrival. This is highly recommended as it is time-saving - you do not have to travel at least twice to the embassy. It takes us at least 5 working days to process this letter. 


VISA FEES

Single Entry Tourist Visa: USD 25 (or more)
Multiple Entry (this is for business people): USD 50 - USD 100

Although the official rates announced by Vietnam Authority are posted as above, we experienced that these rates are quite inconsistent and might be varied in different country. For more specific fees, you can call to the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in your country.

VISA VALIDITY

Maximum 30 days, but you can also get visa extension if you stay more than 30 days in Vietnam. 

Vietnam Visa Approval Letter On-line Service

For our clients, if you need a help with visa, get pre-approval letter for Vietnam visa, we require the following information, which can be sent to us by E-mail or by Fax:

  • Family Name and Giving Name (written the same in your passport)

  • Title (Mr., Mrs, Miss)

  • Nationality

  • Passport Number

  • Date of Passport Issued

  • Date of Passport Expiry

  • Date of your Birth

  • Occupation

  • Date of Arrival in Vietnam

You also have to specify - WHERE you would like to get your visa stamp - at the airport upon arrival or at the Embassy in your country. Once processing starts, it should not be changed, as extra cost will be added up, and more delay.

Once approved, we will send you this pre-approval letter. You will have to print it out and take it with you and show it to custom officers at your arrival

Important Notes on Vietnam Visa:

During your filling up of Vietnam Visa application form, there are a few points that you should know:

1. Date of Entry and Exit in Vietnam.

At the entry custom officer may extend the validity of your stay if your visa stamped date is finishing so please check it or question to specify information, maximum stay of 30 days is allowed to a foreign tourist. But beware of the Entry Date! You could not enter Vietnam before the specified Entry Date. In contrast, you should not depart Vietnam after the specified Exit Date.

2. Port of Entry and Exit of Vietnam

Just fill in Hochiminh City for entry and Hanoi for exit; you will be allowed entry and exit at both points.  If you were to enter from the other points, such as Danang international entry/exit point), or Mocbai (a border point between Cambodia and Vietnam), you should specify it clearly. 

International border gates: 
By air: Noi Bai airport in Ha Noi, and Tan San Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang and Hue airports in the middle of Vietnam.
By land with China: 03 with China: Mong Cai, Quang Ninh province(Dong Xing in Chinese, Quang Xi province), Huu Nghi Quan, Lang Son province (You Yi Quan in Chinese, Quang Xi province), and Lao Cai, Lao Cai province (He Kou in Chinese, Yun Nan province).
By land with Laos: 03 with Laos: Nam Can, Nghe An province, high way 07 (Laos side call Nam Khanh, Xieng Khoang province), Cau Treo, Ha Tinh province, high way 08 (Laos side call Nam Phao, Bolikhamxai province), and Lao Bao, Quang Tri province, high way 09 (Laos side call Lao Bao)
By Land with Cambodia: 02 with Cambodia: Moc Bai in Tay Ninh province (Bavet on Cambodia side), Chau Doc in Chau Doc town, Mekong river cross (Kaam Samnor on Cambodia side), and some others are constructing facilities

 

 

Custom Regulation:

Things brought subject to declare while entering Vietnam:
(Should not bring something into the country which is forbidden or against the country's law )

  1. Amount of Foreign exchange is over USD 5,000 (including currencies, gold, silver, precious stones, jewellery).

  2. Cultural or politic articles: magazine, cd, dvd... 

  3. Alcohol over 2 liters, cigarette 200, cigars 50 and tobacco over 250 grams
